Tokyo
Tokyo is one of the most fascinating capitals in the world, where ultra-modernity meets tradition at every street corner. A megacity of more than 13 million inhabitants, it nevertheless surprises visitors with its pockets of tranquility: imperial gardens and Shinto shrines nestled between skyscrapers. Between the creative energy of its trendy districts, the richness of its gastronomic scene and the spirituality of its centuries-old temples, Tokyo brings together every facet of contemporary Japan in a single city.
Tokyo at a glance
Tokyo is best experienced district by district, each with its own identity. You can go from a crowded temple in the morning to a silent alleyway in the evening, from a tuna auction market at dawn to a whisky bar hidden behind an anonymous door. My favorite experiences not to be missed include:
Passing through the Kaminarimon Gate and strolling along Nakamise Street to Sensō-ji Temple, the traditional heart of Asakusa,
letting yourself be swept away by the crowds at Shibuya Crossing, the most famous pedestrian crossing in the world,
finding peace just steps away from the city's bustle in the forest surrounding Meiji Shrine in Harajuku,
enjoying sushi at the counter of a small restaurant in Tsukiji, watching the chef prepare it fresh before your eyes.

WHAT TO SEE IN TOKYO

What SEASON to go to Tokyo?
Tokyo enjoys a temperate climate with four distinct seasons: spring (March to May), marked by the cherry blossom season that transforms parks into pale pink landscapes; summer (June to August), hot and humid, brought to life by matsuri festivals and fireworks displays; autumn (September to November), with mild temperatures and the vibrant colors of Japanese maple trees in the gardens; and winter (December to February), cold and dry, revealing a bright city with fewer visitors.
Even in summer, despite the heat and the monsoon rains in June, Tokyo never slows down. Museums, izakayas and temples always provide a pleasant escape between showers. Whatever the season, the city is constantly reinventing itself: from the streets of Asakusa to the neon lights of Shinjuku, Tokyo captivates visitors year-round with its boundless energy and the richness of its contrasts.
