Hoi An

Nestled on Vietnam’s central coast, Hoi An is a timeless city where history and nature meet. Far from the hustle and bustle of big cities, this former port town enchants visitors with its peaceful alleys, unique architecture, and Chinese, Japanese, and French influences. Between walks through the UNESCO-listed Old Town and bike rides through the surrounding rice fields, Hoi An invites you to slow down. A perfect destination for travelers seeking a local experience.

In the heart of Hoi An’s French Quarter, a lesser-known lantern market holds a lovely surprise for fans of local crafts. There, among the stalls, passionate artisans display colorful handmade lanterns.

If you take the time to linger, you will be able to chat with the vendors, learn more about their ancestral techniques, and maybe even go home with a unique treasure, far from the usual souvenirs.

In the late afternoon, as the market begins to empty, don’t hesitate to start a conversation and try negotiating: artisans are often more open to offering a discount, especially if you show genuine interest in their craft.
