Koh Hai

Koh Hai, also known as Koh Ngai, is a still-preserved gem of the Andaman Sea. This small island in the province of Trang, barely 4 kilometres long, charms with its simplicity and authenticity. Here, no roads and no cars: just the sound of the waves, the songs of tropical birds and untouched nature as far as the eye can see.

Lined by a long white sand beach and surrounded by a coral reef accessible from the shore, Koh Hai is the ideal retreat for travellers seeking peace and escape. It is also a perfect starting point to explore the wonders of the neighbouring islands, including the famous Emerald Cave on Koh Mook.

Koh Hai is my favourite island for travellers who truly want to switch off! There isn’t even a road. The only sound in the morning is that of hornbills crossing the canopy. You put on a mask from the beach and within a few strokes you find yourself surrounded by clownfish.

What I love here is the possibility of combining the calm of the island with excursions that leave a lasting impression. The Emerald Cave on Koh Mook, just a few minutes away by boat, where you swim through a dark tunnel before emerging into a secret lagoon surrounded by cliffs.

For those who enjoy walking, the jungle trail to Paradise Beach offers a sunset you won’t see anywhere else on the island.
