Guided to going to
Mongolia
Mongolia is predominantly shaped by Tibetan Buddhist traditions, deeply intertwined with ancestral shamanism that venerates the sky and the spirits of nature. After decades of repression under the communist regime, monasteries have come back to life. There is also a Muslim minority, mainly Kazakh, in the western part of the country.

Mongolian is the official language and is now written using the Cyrillic alphabet (although the traditional vertical Mongolian script is making a comeback). In the west of the country, Kazakh is widely spoken. English remains uncommon outside of Ulaanbaatar, but the warmth of nomadic hospitality goes far beyond any language barrier.
